SHERWOOD
TO BECOME OFFICIAL EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER FOR UOIT HOCKEY!
Oshawa
(UOIT) - The Department of Athletics and Recreation at the
University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) is
very pleased to announce that SHERWOOD will become the majority
official equipment and stick supplier for UOIT Ridgeback
Varsity Men's & Women's Hockey programs. "The Canadian
company is one of the top hockey equipment manufacturers
in the world and we are thrilled to have come to an agreement
with SHERWOOD to supply our Ridgeback equipment at a preferred
discounted team rate", stated Athletic Director, Ken
Babcock.
The
team will be outfitted in SHERWOOD protective equipment,
pants, gloves, bags and of course - sticks. The same company
that provides NHL Leading Scorer and young superstar sensation,
Sidney Crosby with his hockey sticks will be providing the
Ridgebacks with their sticks.
The
Department is also pleased to announce that they have agreed
to go exclusively with Mission hockey helmets for the UOIT
Varsity Hockey programs, thanks to a University team preferred
discount program. (note: SHERWOOD does not make helmets)
The Ridgebacks will become the first OUA team to be outfitted
exclusively with Mission helmets. Meanwhile the goaltender
equipment of choice for the Ridgebacks will be REEBOK goalie
equipment.
"By
working with these three top of the line companies to cover
off the key areas for our hockey programs, our student-athletes
will be outfittted with the best," said Babcock.
The
inaugural season of OUA University hockey for the UOIT Ridgebacks
starts this fall with the women's homeopener set for September
29th at the Campus Ice Centre (CIC) vs. University of Western
Ontario Mustangs and the men's first ever home game set
for October 12th vs. Queen's University Golden Gaels also
at the CIC.
University
Hockey is coming to the Durham Region! Puck drops this fall!!!
