UOIT’S Men’s Hockey Assistant Coach Rob Pearson to Appear on TSN’s “Off the Record”
Oshawa (OUA) – The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) Athletic Department is proud to announce that on Wednesday January 16, 2008 at 6:00 pm, Rob Pearson, UOIT Varsity Men’s Hockey Assistant Coach Rob Pearson will be appearing on TSN’s “Off the Record”.
Pearson (Oshawa, ON) joined the UOIT Ridgebacks coaching staff as assistant coach in 2006 and has been working along side head coach Marlin Muylaert during the team’s inaugural OUA season. UOIT has faired well during their first season of play as they have compiled a record of 4-13-3 while going on to earn points in four of their last seven games. On November 30, 2007, the Ridgebacks most memorable win came against the top ranked University of Western Ontario Mustangs. In spectacular fashion, UOIT came from behind to erase a two-goal deficit in the final minute of regulation play to force overtime. The team would eventually go on to win the game 3-2 in a shoot out in front of a packed house at the Campus Ice Centre.
In 1989, Pearson was drafted in the first round, 12th overall, by the Toronto Maple Leafs. He went on to play with the Maple Leafs, as well as the Washington Capitals and St. Louis Blues from 1991 to 1997 in the NHL. He also played seven seasons in the AHL and IHL with Portland, Worcester, Cleveland, Long Beach and Orlando. The former NHL player retired from playing hockey in 2002 after a season in Germany with the Frankfurt Lions.
TSN's “Off the Record” with Michael Landsberg has become the most popular talk show among men in Canada. Landsberg uses his skills as an interviewer and moderator to get a hand-picked group of the audiences most preferred attendees on stage to discuss the major controversial events of the day. Topics of the day can be sports related, current affairs, or even issues specific to the guests industry.
Be sure to watch the show on January 16, 2008 at 6:00 pm on TSN, and keep up to date with Pearson’s latest endeavor as assistant coach on the UOIT Ridgebacks men’s hockey program at the official website: www.uoitridgebacks.com.
The Ridgebacks will next hit the ice on Thursday, January 17 when UOIT head coach Marlin Muylaert makes his return to the University of Guelph in a match-up against the Gryphons. The contest will also mark the first game of a divisional home-and-home series as the two teams will face off on the next night at the Campus Ice Centre in Oshawa, ON. Puck drop is 7:30 pm.
