Oshawa (OUA) – The UOIT Ridgebacks women’s hockey team is pleased to announce the addition of Meggie Mcnabb (Parry Sound, ON) to the lineup for the 2008-09 OUA season.
"We are very pleased to add Meggie to the lineup for next season,” Ridgebacks head coach Gary Pitcher commented. “Her enthusiasm towards the program combined with her natural skill on the ice will compliment nicely with the group of players we already have on the team. Meggie is a player that we expect to lead by example and make an immediate impact for the Ridgebacks on the blueline."
“My goal playing hockey for UOIT is to work together with our team and coaches to become the best team in the OUA,” Mcnabb stated when asked about joining the team. “As a player, I look forward to continue to develop my hockey skills and contribute to the team. I will continue to play my agitating style and try to force opposing teams off their game. I can’t wait to start school, meet my new teammates and get on the path towards winning a championship.”
Mcnabb, a left-handed defender, played the last two seasons with the Toronto Rattlers (AA Intermediate), a team in which traveled across Canada and the United States. Prior to joining the Rattlers, Mcnabb completed five years of intensive training with Hockey Tech International in Toronto, ON. The training program has been in operation as a full-time, year round school for the past 17 years and is considered by many to be among the best full time hockey training schools in North America.
In 2006, Mcnabb had the honour of winning a silver medal at the National Aboriginal Games in Montréal, Quebec, as a proud representative and member of the Beausoleil First Nation.
