Oshawa - The UOIT Ridgebacks men's hockey team will be embarking into unknown territory this weekend, as they travel to New Haven, Connecticut home of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Yale Bulldogs.
The men will be taking part in the first-ever “Shootout at Ingalls” on October 26 and 27. Facing-off against UOIT will be the Ivy League power houses; the host Yale Bulldogs, Brown University Bears (Providence, RI) and the Princeton Tigers (Princeton, NJ). It will be a two-day event with games at 4:30pm and 7:30pm both nights at Ingalls Rink.
On Friday the 26th, UOIT takes on Brown at 4:30pm before the Bulldogs and Tigers battle in the nightcap. The Ridgebacks take on Princeton the next day before Yale and Brown square off at 7:30pm.
The Shootout is a three-year deal that will move to Providence and then Princeton the next two years. The home team will always play two regular-season games.
"The ECAC has so many great teams that are quality NCAA opponents. It is exciting for us to play Brown, Princeton and UOIT in non-league games this early in the season. It's good for us and exciting for the fans," said Yale senior associate athletic director Wayne Dean.
