RIDGEBACKS MEN'S HOCKEY SHUTOUT AT 'SHOOTOUT'

New Haven, CN - The Ridgebacks men's hockey program ventured outside of Ontario for the first time ever this past weekend when they traveled to New Haven, Connecticut home of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Yale Bulldogs to compete in the inaugural 'Shootout At Ingalls' against the Ivy League power houses; Princeton Tigers (Princeton, NJ) and Brown University Bears (Providence, RI). UOIT would compete in exhibition contests against the two teams who would play Yale in regular season action during the event.

Friday afternoon, October 26 was the first game for the Ridgebacks against the Bears from Brown University. Brown came out hard against UOIT, looking to tune up for the following day’s game against the host Yale Bulldogs. From the outset they controlled the game and peppered Goaltender Matt Mateja (Mississauga) with 58 shots over the course of the game compared to only 15 mustered by the Ridgebacks. Despite this disparity, only two of those shots managed to find the twine, however, UOIT could not respond and the game ended Brown 2 UOIT 0.
