Ridgebacks Hockey to support the Humane Society
Oshawa, Ont. – The UOIT Ridgebacks men’s hockey team will be hosting a game in support of the Humane Society of Durham Region. The game will take place on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Campus Ice Centre against Brock University.
A portion of proceeds from each ticket sold will go toward rebuilding the Humane Society of Durham in Oshawa, which burnt down in a tragic fire on December 17, 2008. The UOIT Ridgebacks are eager to do something to give back to a charity so close to their campus.
“All of us at Durham College and UOIT were deeply saddened to hear about the tragedy at the Humane Society,” commented Athletic Director Ken Babcock. “One of our main initiatives here at the University is to be involved in the community and we are very excited to put on this game to help out such a good cause.”
Other members of the community will also be showing their support at the game as Pet Valu on King Street in Oshawa has generously donated free samples of dog food. Admission is $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. Children under 12 are free. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or if you wish to purchase in advance, please contact Scott Dennis at (905) 721-2000 ext. 2784.
