Ridgebacks Women’s Hockey Lose a Tough One at York

Women’s Hockey – York defeated UOIT 4-1

North York, Ont. – It was a tough day at the rink for the UOIT women’s hockey team as they were defeated 4-1 against York University on Saturday afternoon.

Although UOIT got out to an early 1-0 lead off a goal by assistant captain Rikki Palmateer, York scored four unanswered goals including two shorthanded markers to win by a final score of 4-1.

York threw all they had at UOIT goaltender Carleigh Taggart as they had 55 shots on goal. UOIT would finish the game with 32 shots on net, while going 1-for-9 with the man advantage.

The Ridgebacks will be right back in action on Sunday afternoon as they head to Toronto to take on the Varsity Blues at 5 p.m.
