Ridgebacks Tennis Drops a Decision on the Road

Burlington, Ont. - The UOIT Ridgebacks men’s tennis team faced a strong McMaster team at the Cedar Springs Tennis Centre in Burlington, Ont. Friday evening. Despite a solid effort which featured the Ridgebacks number one doubles team picking up a win, UOIT fell short losing their second match of the season.

Ryan Coppola (Richmond Hill, Ont.) and Chris King (Whitby, Ont.) picked up the Ridgebacks lone win of the day as they defeated McMaster’s number one doubles pair 8-6. King also won his first set in singles action but dropped the next two to lose the match (6-7, 6-3, 6-1).

This marks UOIT’s second loss of the season as they fall to 0-2 on the season. McMaster sits in first place in the provincial rankings with a perfect 2-0 record, as they defeated the University of Western Ontario earlier in the week.

UOIT’s next action will be Saturday, September 20 at home against York University. First serve at the Campus Tennis Centre is at 9:30 a.m.
