Ridgebacks advance to the Hockey Night in Canada Play On! Finals

OSHAWA , Ont. - The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) women's hockey team took part in the Hockey Night in Canada Play On! 4-on-4 street hockey tournament this weekend and advanced to the national finals .

The regional tournament was held on the streets outside of the GM Centre in downtown Oshawa over the weekend. The team booked their trip to Ottawa in September as they will represent the Durham Region in the elite women's division.

Kara Carter, Violette Long, Melissa Berney, Kayla Jardine, Megan Friel, Jordan Whately and Jessica Larabie made up the Ridgebacks roster.

Tiffany Allen and Jaclyn Gibson also took part in the event, as they represented the Ridgebacks in a celebrity game along with men's hockey players Jason Guy and Andrew Randazzo.

The Ridgebacks will join Guelph , Toronto and Waterloo as teams from the OUA at the national championship.
