UOIT qualifies for six finals at the Brock Invitational
WELLAND, Ont. – The UOIT Ridgebacks took part in the Brock Invitational rowing regatta on the weekend at the St. Catharines Henley Island in preparation for the OUA championship.
UOIT rowers battled the tough weather conditions and qualified for six final races at the invitational.
The men’s novice eight team had UOIT’s top result finishing in third place. The crew ended the race with a quick time of 6:54.98, just over 30 second behind the first place Brock Badgers.
The women’s varsity heavyweight four and men’s novice four crews both finished in fifth place in their respective races. Both crews ended up just 26 seconds out of a podium finish.
UOIT women’s lightweight two team finished in fourth place in their heat and advanced to the finals with a time of 8:09.07. In the finals, the Ridgebacks finished in eighth place, right behind the boat from McMaster.
The men’s and women’s heavyweight eight crews also qualified for the finals, finishing in seventh and eighth place respectively.
UOIT will head to the Guelph Invitational on Saturday, October 22. This will be their last regatta before the OUA championships set to take place at the Henley course from October 28-29.
