UOIT earns their first ever team victory women’s tennis

OUA Women’s Tennis: UOIT defeated McMaster 5-2

*First team series victory for the UOIT tennis program


OSHAWA, Ont. – The UOIT women’s tennis team made school history over the weekend as they earned the program’s first series win in the OUA as the Ridgebacks defeated McMaster University by a score of 5-2 at the Campus Tennis Centre.

Despite earning a number of individual victories, the Ridgebacks had never earned a team win over an OUA opponent until this weekend.

“The team played some incredible tennis,” said UOIT tennis coach Ken Crosina. “It is amazing to see the tremendous progress that every player has made with their dedication coming to practice and giving it their all in every match. They always represent UOIT with pride and I am excited to see them get positive results for all of their hard work.

To open the night, UOIT swept all three doubles matches to earn one point in the series as well as setting the tone for the rest of the night.

In singles action, UOIT won four of the six matches to pick up four more points, securing their first ever victory
