UOIT tees off for the first time in school history

WATERLOO, Ont. – The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) golf team took part in their first invitational tournament in school history this weekend as they participated in the Laurier/Waterloo tournament. The two-day event took place at the Whistle Bear Golf Club in Cambridge and Grey Silo Golf Club in Waterloo.
 
UOIT’s Jay Finley of Oshawa, Ont. finished tied for fifth place at the invitational, finishing with a two-day total of 149 (76-73).
 
2010 OUA champion Garrett Rank finished tied for first place with Waterloo teammate Simon McInnis as they shot matching 140’s.

UOIT finished tenth in the team rankings with a team total of 650. Waterloo defended their title WLU/UW crown shooting 590, 18 strokes ahead of the second place Guelph Gryphons.
 
Daniel Roccasalvo, Joel Neal, Evan Culbert, Brendan Edwards and Jay Finley made up the inaugural UOIT team.

The Ridgebacks will head to Toronto on Saturday, October 8 for the University of Toronto Invitational at Angus Glen.
