Gordon scores two in a Ridgebacks loss

OUA Men’s Soccer: Guelph defeated UOIT 5-2

OSHAWA, Ont. – Justin Gordon of the UOIT Ridgebacks men’s soccer team scored two goals on Thursday night but it wasn’t enough for a win as they fell to the Guelph Gryphons by a final score of 5-2.

After controlling the pace of the game for the opening 25 minutes, UOIT quickly had a reversal of fortunes as the Gryphons scored three quick goals. Robert Murphy scored at the 27 minute mark and Jacob Stolle netted the next two goals at 28 and 32 minutes.
 
Ten minutes into the second half, Justin Gordon got the Ridgebacks on the board to cut the Gryphons lead to 3-1.
 
With the Ridgebacks sending every man forward, the Gryphons would capitalize on the lack of defensive pressure as they scored back-to-back goals.

Gordon would score his second goal of the night with seven minutes left in the game, but the Ridgebacks fell short of the miracle comeback as Guelph secured their fifth win of the year.
 
Matt Caldaroni let in all five goals after coming off back-to-back shutout appearances.
 
UOIT is 1-7-1 in conference play and will host the number one CIS ranked York Lions on Sunday, October 2. Game time at Vaso’s Field is 3:15 p.m.
