Athletic Financial Awards

Entering students with an average of at least 80 percent are eligible to receive up to $3,500 annually from their university to help with expenses for the school year.  Returning student athletes are eligible to renew or obtain scholarships providing they are obtaining a GPA of 2.7 based on a full time course load.  Scholarships are determined by the head coach in conjunction with the Department of Athletics. The amounts and number of AFAs are at the discretion of the school.

Academic Awards of Recognition
(AS OF MAY 25, 2010)

Applicants entering UOIT from a Canadian secondary school will be automatically considered for an Award of Recognition. Awards are based on your top six grade 12 U or M, or equivalent, final grades, and are awarded as follows:

• 95 per cent to 100 per cent = $12,000
• 90 per cent to 94.9 per cent = $8,000
• 85 per cent to 89.9 per cent = $6,000
• 80 per cent to 84.9 per cent = $5,000
  

Please note the following conditions and eligibility requirements for UOIT entrance scholarships and awards:

• Values subject to change;
• Awards of recognition and scholarships are only available to students applying to UOIT from secondary school within 18 months of graduation;
• Summer school courses taken immediately prior to the start of the September term and upgrading marks are not included in grade calculation for awards;
• The value of an award or scholarship will be deposited into the recipient's tuition account over the course of the program, subject to successful renewal evaluation;
• Minimum 3.7 GPA required for renewal; and
• Students may not hold more than one UOIT entrance scholarship or award simultaneously.
