RIDGEBACK ATHLETIC THERAPY

 

All varsity athletes are provided with the services of a Varsity Athletic Therapy Clinic, located within the Campus Health Care Centre. The athletic therapists work along side a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals within the Health Care Centre, to provide a wide range of services for our Athletes. These other services include medical care, counselling services, chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture and nutritional counselling

Athletic Therapy is provides onsite medical coverage at varsity games and tournaments and events.

Hours of Operation:

Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 8:00 pm through varsity seasons.

Athletic Therapy services to varsity athletes include:

  • Anti doping and drug seminars
  • Postural and gait analysis
  • Preventative strength and stretching exercises
  • Protective corrective and assistive equipment fitting
  • Manual treatment for sport related injuries (both acute and overuse related)
  • Ultrasound/laser/electrical modalities
  • Heat and cold therapy
  • Sport specific rehabilitational stretching and strengthing exercises

The Athletic Therapy Clinic operates by appointment only.

Please print out the Medical Information and Informed Consent to Treatment Document and return it to the Varsity Athletic Therapy Clinic as soon as possible.

Therapists Bio's:

Alison Chasczewski

As the lead Athletic Therapist, Alison Chasczewski has been with Durham College and UOIT since 1999.

In 2009, Chasczewki had the chance to represent Ontario at the Canada Games in Atlantic Canada. As a member of the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA), Chasczewski was able to apply to a selection committee who reviewed the applications and selected those applicants who had the experience and skills for the available positions. The selection committee then sent the applications to the Canada Summer Games committee for a final review by their medical team, where Chasczewski was chosen.

Chasczewski has also had the chance to participate in a number of major events including preparation with the national women's field lacrosse team for the World Cup in Baltimore, Md. in 2005 and the national women's (U19) field lacrosse team in Peterborough in 2007, along with several college provincial and national competitions.

Jessica Salt


Jessica Salt has also been at Durham College and UOIT for the past four seasons as an athletic therapist.

Salt has also had the pleasure of working at several provincial and national competitions including the CIS men's soccer championship in 2003, CIS men's hockey championship in 2001 and Rugby Nationals every year from 2003-2009 as an athletic therapist. In 2010, Jessica had the honour of attending the 2010 Vancouver Paralympics as a part of the medical staff for the games.

Her positive outlook and outstanding knowledge guides all the new student therapists that enter into UOIT and Durham each year.  She takes on both UOIT's and Durham's athletes tending to all their injuries. Salt's respected reputation helps UOIT and Durham athletes improve each season.
