Off Season Training
- November and December Optional (School becomes the focus)
- January to March
- Mandatory weekly fitness training
- Includes Circuit training, Weight training and Core work and Erg work
- Strength and Conditioning training is an individualized program emphasizing muscular endurance, not intensity and bulk. As a rower, we want athletes to be strong from head to toe. With weight training, core work, circuit training, and the erg, we have a balance of muscular endurance and cardio.
The Ergometer training along with your other off season training, allows you to maintain your rowing flexibility and cardio conditioning from the fall season
The following is an example of one week of winter training for the UOIT Rowing Program:

The basic rowing action is a coordinated muscle action that requires application of force in a repetitive, maximal and smooth manner. Every large muscle group will contribute to this action:

Indoor Rowing Season
- Beginning of February to middle of March
- Optional for varsity and novice athletes and those new to winter training
- Racing is done on the erg (rowing machine) and indoors
- If you wish to participate in indoor racing, the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships is the first Sunday in February, followed a month later by the Ontario Indoor Rowing Championships, which is the first Sunday in March. Rowing coaches are available to assist any individual who is interested in attending
These Indoor Regattas are a great opportunity to compete with your rowing opponents from other universities
