Plan on rowing with UOIT this fall?
Get a competitive advantage and row with the Durham Rowing Club this summer!
The Durham Rowing Club (DRC) is a non-profit sport organization that has been supporting the sport of rowing in the Durham Region for over 20 years! UOIT has been rowing out of the DRC since 2006 and the partnership has been growing ever since, creating top class athletes.
The DRC has several programs to offer athletes from novice to varsity including:
Competitive
For athletes that want to race! We train hard, but still manage to have a little fun. The DRC has experienced coaches who deliver the technical expertise and create training programs for athletes of all levels. They will push you to achieve success at regattas and personal fitness goals.
Competitive athletes compete in regattas from June to September. These include the CORA Championships, ROWONTARIO Championships and the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, one of the largest regattas in North America. Hundreds of crews travel from around the world to race at this regatta and is often host to national rowers and national rowing prospects.
Recreational
If you love the sport, love being out on the water, love to row with great people, and fun and fitness are your goals… this is the program for you! Athletes are able to row three times a week Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. In this program athletes will be able to improve their rowing technique and gain experience in various rowing shells. The Recreational program will also introduce you to Touring, both locally and internationally.
Learn to Row
Never rowed before and want to know what it’s all about? The DRC has a program to teach you the basics with 8 on water sessions, 4 sessions with in-depth instruction and coaching on Tuesday and Thursday evenings followed by 4 sessions with the recreational program so athletes have a chance to row in a variety of rowing shells with more experienced rowers. For more information on the Learn to Row program visit our website.
Membership options can be found on our registration form. UOIT athletes that register to row with the DRC for the summer will also save on their UOIT fees as the summer membership includes fall rowing with UOIT.
